What is Mantle (MNT)?

MNT is the native token of Mantle, a Layer 2 network built to scale Ethereum. Mantle processes transactions more quickly and cheaply than Ethereum's main network, while still relying on Ethereum for security.

Mantle launched in 2023, growing out of BitDAO, one of crypto's largest decentralised organisations, when the BIT token was converted to MNT. People use MNT to pay transaction fees, take part in governance and access applications across the Mantle ecosystem. Its modular design separates how transactions are processed, stored and settled, which helps keep costs low.
