What is Matic (MATIC)?
Polygon (formerly known as Matic Network) is a protocol for developing and connecting Ethereum-compatible blockchain networks. It is a layer 2 (L2) scaling solution designed to improve the overall adoption of the Ethereum blockchain. Polygon’s scaling solution supports a complete multi-chain ecosystem, ensuring that there is interoperability amongst one another and the Ethereum network.
With Ethereums current proof-of-work consensus protocol, the network can suffer from congestion, slow transaction speeds and low throughput. This can often lead to high gas fees (transaction fees) for users. Polygon has swiftly become a prominent feature amongst numerous DeFi protocols with multi-platform adoption continuing each day. Independent Reserve is the sole custodian of all crypto assets held on our platform. Custody is managed in Australia and we do not use any third party custodians.
