Becoming an Accredited Investor (AI) opens the doors to sophisticated products and solutions not typically available to retail investors.

Why qualify as an Accredited Investor with Independent Reserve?

Accredited Investors are generally considered financially sophisticated and capable of safeguarding their own interests, including by assessing risks independently. As a result, they are subject to fewer regulatory protections and safeguards than retail clients, but are granted access to certain products and services that are not available to retail clients.

In recognition of their financial sophistication and risk assessment capacity, Accredited Investors are afforded greater flexibility and enhanced access. In return, they enjoy:

Feature Accredited Investor (AI)
Exclusive access to sophisticated products and opportunities  Enjoy priority access to a broader range of sophisticated products and opportunities not typically available to retail investors, supporting more dynamic investment strategies.
Priority access to private events Exclusive invitations to private events, offering direct access to industry leaders, market insights, and curated networking opportunities.
Tailored trading experience Receive differentiated service tailored to their investment profile, whether you require greater flexibility or enhanced access.
Higher limits and expanded capabilities  Higher limits and broader functionality, such as leverage trading*, to support more advanced investment needs.

Am I eligible to be an Accredited Investor?

You may qualify as an Individual or Corporate Accredited Investor. Only one of the following criteria needs to be satisfied for Individual Accredited Investors:

  • Net personal assets exceeding S$2 million (or equivalent in foreign currency)
  • Financial assets (net of related liabilities) exceeding S$1 million
  • Income of at least S$300,000 in the preceding 12 months

To qualify as a Corporate Accredited Investor, a company must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Company net assets exceeding S$10 million, as verified by:
    1. The most recent audited balance sheet, or
    2. A certified balance sheet dated within the past 12 months.

OR

  • Accredited Investor shareholders: If the company does not meet the net asset requirement, its entire shareholding must be owned by individuals who are Accredited Investors or by entities that are Accredited Investors themselves.

Understanding the risks

By accessing Digital Payment Token (DPT) services with us as an Accredited Investor, you consent to being treated as an Accredited Investor under the Guidelines on Consumer Protection Measures by Digital Payment Token Service Providers. In doing so, you agree to forgo certain regulatory safeguards applicable to retail clients, including the protections relating to the “consent provisions” for the relevant accounts for which you have elected to be treated as an Accredited Investor.

As an AI:

  • You may not receive certain regulatory safeguards afforded to retail investors
  • Certain disclosure requirements may differ
  • You are deemed to possess the capacity to assess risks independently

It is important to carefully consider whether an AI status is appropriate for your financial circumstances.

If your financial situation changes and you no longer qualify, Independent Reserve may adjust your account status accordingly.
