Ripple USD (RLUSD) is a stablecoin pegged one-to-one to the US dollar, offering stability, efficiency, and strong regulatory compliance. Designed for a variety of applications, including cross-border payments and decentralized finance, RLUSD addresses the growing demand for a reliable and compliant digital asset. It is issued on both the XRP Ledger and Ethereum networks, utilising the strengths of each to cater to a broad range of users. Ripple, a regulated financial institution, ensures that RLUSD meets all relevant regulatory requirements, leveraging its global portfolio of licenses to maintain compliance.
Each RLUSD token is fully backed by a reserve consisting of USD fiat and cash equivalents, such as government money market funds and short-term US Treasury Bills, held at US-based financial institutions. This ensures the stablecoin’s value is always aligned with the US dollar. RLUSD is designed with enterprises in mind, particularly institutions and payment providers, focusing on transparency and regulatory adherence. Monthly reserve attestations will be provided by an independent US-based certified public accountant, further enhancing trust and transparency.
RLUSD is issued by Ripple's subsidiary, Standard Custody and Trust Company (SCTC), which is chartered by the New York State Department of Financial Service.
